I am reading! Here are some highly recommended reads, running and non-running related!
Looking for Alaska
My. Favorite. Book. EVER. period. End of story. I can't tell you what it's about without giving away some very critical pieces that you need to figure out on your own...but this book seriously got to my head. Maybe I just read it at an appropriate time....but it was beautiful and thought provoking. I go to seek a Great Perhaps, and I forgive to get out of the labyrinth of suffering. Go read it, then you'll get it.
Brain on Fire: My Month of Madness
An amazing story of a 24 year old journalist with a "mystery" illness.
They Poured Fire on Us From the Sky: The Story of Three Lost Boys from Sudan
One of the (emotionally) most difficult books I have ever read. Very moving.
You Are Not So Smart
Hysterically written. If you are not humbled after reading this book, then you are REALLY not so smart.
Gang Leader for a Day
Fascinating read about a sociologist who gains access to the inner-workings of a Chicago gang.
In Defense of Food
Changed my entire view on food. The food industry is a very scary one. This is a must read for anyone who eats...oh wait...that is everyone!
Night Runner
This reads like a movie script, but the characters are endearing and as a future Boston Marathoner this was a lovable story.
Eat and Run
This book doesn't need an intro anymore, the name speaks for itself. This is the book that started my clean(er) eating adventures and this blog!
Hanson's Marathon Method
Debunks some conventional training wisdom (no more 20 milers) and makes a lot of sense! Great read!
How to Build a Girl
Really, just amazing. Every female should read this book.
Not That Kind of Girl
Another absolute must read for females. A contemporary coming-of-age tale, much like How to Build a Girl
Any recommendations to add to the list? I would love them!
